Brian's Story
Let's see, what has happened since 1985...
- 1985 - Three years at SLCC, graphic design AAS.
- 1988 - Landed first job in graphic design.
- 1990 - Married Jeanie, met at a skating rink.
- 1992 - Bought first house in South Salt Lake.
- 1995 - Moved to West Valley.
- 1998 - Built home in West Jordan.
- 2000 - First son Alex is born
- 2001 - One month before 9/11, opened Fort Union location of European Connection (Cafe & Creperie). Was meant to be an investment. After 9/11 and our partner embezzled profits for 5 months, spent the next 2 years draining our savings trying to keep it alive.
- 2002 - After 14 years working in graphic design, went on my own as a freelancer. Been doing this since.
- 2003 - Second son Nathan is born
- 2003 - Closed Cafe in bankruptcy. We ran out of money.
- 2006 - Separated from Jeanie.
- 2008 - Divorce is final. On the market agai...Expand for more
n after 20 years :( Wow that is a strange feeling. I guess this is my mid-life crisis.
Those are the cliff notes. I love being self-employed. It allows me to spend a ton of time with my kids. They keep me young. My ex and I have a decent relationship and I am able to see my boys 3-4 days a week.
I've been able to do a fair amount of travel. I love the Caribbean, California, Florida, anywhere there is a NASCAR race, going on cruises, and definitely Sandals resorts. I love the warmer weather. Utah winters are getting old LOL. Eventually I will end up in the San Diego area.
I have had many hobbies/activities over the years. I enjoy swimming, volleyball, bowling, golf, soccer, tennis, concerts, radio control airplanes and cars, painting, home theater, computers, woodworking, cooking, PS3 and WII with my boys. Watching most forms racing, NFL, NBA, golf, cycling, DIY, TLC.
