Brian's Story
Workplace
My current position is an Assistant Vice President of Underwriting for Hermitage Holdings.
My company is an Excess & Surplus Lines insurance carrier. I work with wholesale insurance brokers throughout the country writing custom insurance coverages for Commercial General Liability, Property, Excess General Liability and Commercial Umbrella coverages.
We insure companies that fall outside the "normal mom & pops" type of accounts. Some of my accounts are manufacturers, contractors, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, special events and high valued buildings.
Have you ever heard of the term LLoyd's of London? I'm in the same market place as them and compete against them and other surplus lines carriers every day.
I think I'm pretty lucky to have a job that I really enjoy. I get to travel, meet new people and everyday my job brings on new challenges.
I'm lucky that I enjoyed algebra during my years at East as I use it everyday.
I live in Columbia, CT with my wife Sue. ...Expand for more
We've been married since 10/4/86 and have enjoyed a wonderful life together.

I always wanted to be a successful when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a fantastic idea. As it turns out, they were right.
If I won $100 million, I'd give 25% of it to CATHOLIC CHURCH, then spend the rest on FAMILY, FRIENDS and INVESTMENTS.
My current age is 48. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be SMARTER. I was so completely WRONG.
My best friend would tell you I'm DRIVEN, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as A DREAMER.
I share my home with MY WIFE SUE AND NEPHEW GREG, which I find TO BE VERY PLEASANT.
In 10 years, I hope to be RETIRED. I'm going to get there by SAVING AND MAKING BETTER INVESTMENT CHOICES.
My first job was at A TOBACCO FARM IN EAST WINDSOR, CT, where I got paid SQUAT to PICK TOBACCO. What I remember most about it is DIRTY, STICKY AND NOT REWARDING AT ALL. ANY JOB ABOVE THAT WAS AN IMPROVEMENT..
