Brian's Story
Life
My girlfriend and I recently celebrated our one-year anniversary, which is great.
I've been living in Asheville for almost two years. I'm hoping to move back to Raleigh and settle down.
I hardly go back to Thomasville anymore. And rarely to any East football games. But no one from school recognizes me anyway, so it's not that bad.
School
I was friends with pretty much everyone; or at least spoke to everyone at some point. Guess that's how I got to be class president, I don't know.
High school was all politics anyway. It's funny how if you played one sport apparently you were qualified to play others even if you sucked. Too bad my parents didn't have the green. [I'm not jaded, really. Ok, I am.]
It's all good though. My friends were the best part of high school. Anna... Andrew... John... Jenny... Rachel... Pam... Brinley... Haley... Ryan... Edward... David & Michael... Jason... Ash... the girls on the yearbook staff.
Favorite teachers: Broadway, Blevins, Johnson, Blackwell, and just making fun of Mrs. Long
I didn't get the girl. I didn't go to Maryland. I didn't keep in touch with everybody. I didn't plan a reunion.
College
I would do it all over again, but only if I had everyone with me.
I spent my freshman year essentially living in Beth & Rachel's room. My roommate was a pretty cool black guy on the track team, ...Expand for more
who also liked to speak Spanish in his sleep. Freshman year was awesome. Dean's list... Reynolds... campouts... beach house... Phelps... 24-7 over FSU
The next three years I roomed with Corey Regan. Met some really cool suitemates... Rolando, Jeremy, Jordon, Josh, Rob. Dookskies... Walnut Street... Grand Slam... eye-brow piercing... and plenty more
The girls who weren't meant to be: the shy one, the cute one, the nympho, the jailbait
The coolest girls: Beth, Rachel, Adair, Brinley, Anna, Holly, Lauren #3, Jana, Allison, Whitney, Jennifer, Lacy, Kathy, Laura, Margaret-Ellen, Ann, Kellie
The guys: Gore, the twins, Ro, Sperati, Brandin, Robert, Michael, Wes, Robyn, Schatz, Jay, Kelly, Bart, Jared
Better than high school: the girls, the sports, the classes
Not better: attendance policies, my grades, the book work, the GPA competition
Workplace
Spent 3 1/2 years working for Blockbuster Video while I was in college. The pay wasn't all that, but 5 free movies a week was worth it. And I miss the excitement of being threatened with a gun by a shoplifter on crack and throwing his ass to the sidewalk.
Still looking for a career (in film, preferably).
Right now I'm bringing home the cash every night working for Domino's (that's what happens when you get a college degree, but, in retrospect, not in the field you really wanted to work in).
