Brian's Story
I thought I was going to be a professional baseball player after H.S., but I just wasn't that good. I played ball at CWU for 3 three years then switched and started booking the concerts for Student Government Association. i got a job doing the same in Seattle in 1969 and learned a lot. I took my talents to L.A. in 1972 and throughly got thrashed for 10 years. but in 1982 all the hard work paid off and and I became number 1 producer/promoter in souther california.
my company was Avalon Attraction and I sold it to a wall strret group in 1998.
i still work for them doing concerts with the acts I grew up with..Bruce Springsteen, U2, Madonna, Pearl Jam and a ton more from the 70's and 80's.
i'm working with a great new band Muse. (your children or grand children know them)
I am married to Judy...we met 11 years ago on a blind date. (blind dates at age 52 can be challenging). we've been together ever since. we were married 4 years ago. judy manages and develops songwriters and performers. she's very good. she started her own company "The Judy Stakee Company" in 2009.
she signed and developed Sheryl Crow, Jewel, together with a great number of songwr...Expand for more
iters.
we have 2 wonderful 4 yr old labradors, Jake and Lucy. Judy brought a miniature schnauzer (sp?) to the relationship. Charlie is 15 yrs old and bosses our 2 labs all day.
i have one daughter, Shannon who lives in Walla Walla and she has given me two wonderful grand children ages 5 (liam) and 2.5 (Derrek).
got into a car wreck in 1982 driving from Spokane to Pullman to promote a Dan Fogelberg concert. I've had 13 operations and I can say without question it was the best thing that could have happened. changed my outlook on a lot of things...
you've maybe heard some crazy stories about the rock n roll world. they're all true. and I did most of the stupid stuff you've heard about.
(Google....Brian Murphy/Avalon Attractions).
I'd like to make contact with as many of you U-Hi grads as possible.
Cheers
Brian
p.s. Scott Destefano moved to L.A. in 1985 to try a career change. we lived together for a few years and I was fortunate enough to get Scotty hooked up
with the union. his great personality and work ethic took him to the top and he had a great run working on TV shows. i.e. "head of the class". such a shame to have lost him so early.
