Brian's Story
Life
Life is strange. Who would have thought that the kid that moved from Chicago to Collinsville, MS in the late 70's that never seemed to "fit in" would end up a pastor in Alabama some 25 (+/-) years later. After six years in the Navy that was ended abruptly due to a severe accident causing me nearly lose my leg, I returned to school to obtain my degree in nursing and then again to Bible College obtaining a degree in Biblical Studies, Christian Counseling, Theology and Philosophy! To think that I actually had a few that thought I would never graduate high school. I am so very grateful that there were people like Mr. Edwards (WLHS history) and Coach Lee Holiday (Appalachian HS) that told me that I could accomplish anything if I would put my mind to it. I am so thankful that there are some that never gave up on me and were tremendous encouragers in my life. Thanks Mr. Edwards ...Expand for more
and Coach Holiday - may God bless you all and let His grace shine upon you!
Military
In 1987 I had my career in the military come to a screeching halt due to a terrible accident that caused me to nearly lose my leg. Here I am 17 years later, a pastor in Birmingham, Alabama. Whod'a thunk it? I can never say thank you enough for all of you that I served with throughout my time in the military. You may not realize it, but if it were not for each and everyone of you, I would not be the man I am today. Romans 8:23 says that "All things work for the good for those who love the Lord." Even the hard times we all faced gave me the chance to be used for the glory of God and I can only hope that each of you, if you haven't already, find the meaning of what I am speaking of. I think of you all often and pray for you. May God bless you all richly. If you are ever in Oneonta, AL look me up!
