Brian's Story

Who am I? That is a good question. I left Canada before most of my changes came about. I really lost my way for many years. My final three years of high school were really mostly just that...High, really High. I think loneliness drove me to that, even though I was not without friends. But I have found that much of life's friendships are really made up of dependent lonely people seeking what they can get from others. We are all trying to meet such needs in our lives...a place to belong, a people to belong to...can any of you relate? I found that now my life is not about what I can get at all. I have something to give. I come to serve and to love others. I am no longer lonely. In 1979 I had my first exposure to the message of Jesus Christ and His claim to be my Savior. Without understanding anything, I asked him to forgive my sin and come into my life. For a time I continued on in that new life...but I had no foundation or understanding of what had really taken place inside of me and so the reality of His Presence was short lived and soon after (9 months perhaps) I was back involved in sex, drugs and rock'n'roll. I began to earnestly ask God to come back into my life in January of 1982. I then had what I will call my conversion to Christ's life. It is where a man places himself fully at the disposal of God as His Father and Jesus Christ as his Lord and Master. Upon making that transaction, my life took on new meaning and purpose, an eternal one, and since then I have been delivered out of my former way of life. The change inside me was so dramatic that anyone who knew me before had a great deal of difficulty relating to the changes. But I too had a difficult time relating those changes to my friends and family. Since then God has mercifully tempered my enthusiasm and matured it into a stable faith. It still permeates all that I am and do and it permeates how I would want to relate to each of you who reads this. I would want to let you know that the King of all the Universe...Expand for more
is at your disposal. He simply waits for you to call upon His name and ask for His Lordship in your life as well. He has with Him the promise of forgiveness of sins as well as the gift of Eternal Life and that is not merely a promise of future hope but life-changing power in the here and now. I am a direct recipient of His love, mercy and grace and I humbly extend that same gift to you. This really is the purpose and meaning of my life and I hope that you don't find it to mundane or boring. If you are looking for a place to belong, a person to belong to, try Him. He provides a kingdom, that is the Kingdom of God, and He provides a Father, the Eternal God, and a family, they are called the Church, the children of God, the Bride of Christ and many other things. Ultimately, they are simply those whose lives have been saved, changed and enriched by the Living Savior. God bless all who read this. Love Brian I always wanted to be a Pro Golfer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a decent idea. As it turns out, they were supportive. My favorite way to relax is when I enter God's throne room in prayer and I rest in His presence. Not much to be concerned about when your creator is with you in the same room!! Jesus is my hero. He was the bravest man to ever walk this planet and he gave rise to a group of the bravest people who followed him. Read Fox's Book of Martyrs and you will see what I mean. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the kitchen and add on a new deck in the back yard. My dream home would be the one God gave me and the one He is preparing for me now.. I've learned that I can be real with my kids and share my strengths and when appropriate my weaknesses. I've learned how to love by loving them through their tough times. If I won $100 million, I'd give 10% of it to Church, then spend the rest on helping others, feeding the poor and building homes in Haiti.. In 10 years, I hope to be with Jesus Christ. I'm going to get there by His promised resurrection..
