Rev. Brian's Story
Life
Most of what I do is related to serving God: four years volunteering as a tutor at a charter elementary school for at-risk inner-city African-American kids, eight years coordinating volunteers for a critically-ill kids' camp, five years volunteering at the Boys & Girls Club, three years serving as Spiritual Director for Deco-Tec Ministries, two years serving on the Service Learning Ministries Staff at Cornerstone University, two years serving as a music minister at Faith Fellowship Church of Schoolcraft & Adat Eytz Chayim Messianic Congregation, and served as interim pastor at Faith Fellowship at the end of 2007.
I'm currently recording a CD of my original compositions called "Brachot l'Yeshua" with songs in English and Hebrew.
College
I first attended Kendall College of Art & Design studying Advertising Art, then went on to St. Luke Evangelical School of Biblical Studies for Music Ministry with summer courses at University of San Diego & Georgia Tech. I studied Secondary Ed at KVCC focusing on Modern Languages, and then went on to Cornerstone University to study Youth Ministry and Ancient Languages. I'm currently working on my M.Div. at Grand Rapids Theolo...Expand for more
gical Seminary.
In the course of my educational path, I have studied Spanish (in HS), German, Russian, Greek, Hebrew, Sahidic Coptic, and Middle Egyptian Hieroglyphs.
Work
Through a long series of twists and turns, I found myself called to a career in youth, music, & service ministry. I was the Board Spiritual Director for DECOTEC Ministries in Grand Rapids for 3 years and served as Worship Leader at Otsego First Congregational Church, Clancy Street Ministries in GR, and Faith Fellowship of Schoolcraft. I am currently applying to churches in GR, having completed my term as interim pastor of Faith Fellowship and turned that church over to a new pastor in December 2007.
Meanwhile, I also tutor Bible, Theology, Greek, Hebrew, and Science at Cornerstone University's Learning Center and have written two books (yet unpublished): a two-year Discipleship manual for new believers and a guide for parenting/counseling adolescents.
I am also preparing for an archaeological excavation I hope to work in Wadi Natrun, Egypt in January 2009 and am working with the founder of the National Bible Museum to prepare artifacts for the museum's opening in three years in Dallas, TX.
