Bridgeda's Story

Life Wow! Write a life biography in 4000 words or less? I am not sure I can, but here goes. After high school, I moved to San Marcos, TX where I attended Southwest Texas State University (Texas State University- Don't get me started on the name change!) I actually completed 2 Bachelor of Science degrees there. One is in Psychology/Biology and the other is Elementary Education. While attending SWT, I met and married my 1st husband (Yes, there is a #2, but I will get to that later) We had a tumultuous relationship to say the least, but we did produce a beautiful little girl who is now 8 years old. She is in the Talented and Gifted Program and is 8 going on 18. I have no idea where she gets that from! In 1997, my father passed away after a long battle with alcoholism. This was a major turning point in my life. It was as if my eyes had been opened for the first time. I was able to see what a disaster my marriage was and I began to take steps to correct that. I got involved in my church and prayed that God would show me his plan for me. He is still revealing this to me today. As a result, I was able to see that my husband was unfaithful and had been for many years. I divorced him and moved to Killeen, TX in 2000. I found a job teaching and began to put my life back together. Within a year, I was able to purchase a new car and a home on my own, something I could never do when I was married. The following couple of yea...Expand for more
rs I spent working on myself and finding a good group of friends to enjoy life with. During this time, I found my soulmate. I know that is so cliche, but it is true. He is a little younger than me (OK he is 12 yrs younger!) but, the age difference doesn't bother us. It was a whilrwind romance to say the least. We met in December, 2002 were engaged in March, 2003 and married in April, 2003. Our marriage had to be rushed a bit because my husband, Adam, received order to deploy to Iraq. He is a soldier in the US Army. Who would have thought I would be a War Bride? Thankfully his orders were cancelled. In June, we found out we were expecting our first child! I told you it was a whirlwind and frankly I wasn't getting any younger. In August 2003, the Army sent Adam to Montana to fight forest fires and upon his return they gave him orders to PCS to Korea. It is an unaccompanied 15 month tour. He was able to return home for a short while when our son was born in February, 2004. It is hard being so far apart, but I am just thankful he is not in Iraq. His old division, the 1st Cavalry, is currently in Baghdad and is taking heavy casualties. Please pray for our troops in general, but say a special one for the 2/82 Field Artillary of the 1st Cavalry. I am currently teaching science to middle school students in Killeen. It is a tough job, but I love it. Well, that is my life in a nutshell, or at least the past 17 years or so.
