Bridget's Story
Life
Hey all!
For those of you who remember, yeah I was the goofy, skinny (yeah real skinny) girl with the glasses---no wait, I had contacts. Anyway, I couldn't get anybody to give me the time of day, but that's all good. The skinny girl didn't stay skinny. All that milk did helped a little and now I'm married to a wonderful Southern man and we have a beautiful, extremely energetic son who is the joy of my life. Life can give you wonderful surprises and he certainly was. Best anniversary present I could have ever received.
I'm enjoying the hot summers in Mississippi these days and no, I'm not missing the snow one bit. But I sure could use a US Steel from Lincoln's. No matter how far I venture from Gary, there's no doubt that I'll be a Garyite and Trooper for life.
School
The absolute best years were 1982-83 and 1983-84. I have to say that the seniors of those classes made it so much fun. Being on the Drill Team was by far the best fun I ever had as well. To this day, I still believe that we were cheated out of the city-wide championship in 1985. We had the best drill that year, no lie.
Aside from the Drill Team, I was a member o...Expand for more
f the National Honor Society, the Human Relations Club and Band for a couple years.
The best memories are lunchtime in the surge during homecoming week. Day 1: toilet paper fight. Day 2: rice fight. Day 3: water/shaving cream fight. It was so live! And then Mr. Stephanelli had to make the announcement. You know he was mad whenever he got on the intercom...otherwise you never seen him or heard from him...that's why he sent out his linchmen: Mr. Crockett, Mr. Oppman and Ms. Dowdell.
Its a shame that kids can't have that kind of fun anymore. Those where the best days.
It wouldn't matter who I had a crush on cause they didn't pay me any attention anyway. There are some secrets that I plan on taking with me. Heh heh
College
Went to IVY TECH for a minute or so and then had to go to work.
Workplace
I worked for the School Service Center in Gary for about 5 years and then moved to Mississippi and got married. I worked 20 yesrd for the state health department until I left to be a caregiver.
But for me, the best job I've ever had and still proudly do (37 years and counting) is teach the Bible and Truth about the only True God, Jehovah.
