Bridgett's Story
Life
November 2007: I'm now living in Southern California with my husband (of six years), Bruce. We moved here two years ago from Houston after he accepted a promotion with his company. I've had the good fortune to keep my job and work from home since we moved to California. I'm currently a Project Manager/Systems Analyst, but I've held a number of jobs with the same company since I started working there in 1996 -- right after grad school.
I have two beautiful, sweet step-daughters (Jessica, 17; and Tori, 16) and two dogs (Sandy, a Rhodesian Ridgeback; and Nixie, my brand new dachshund puppy). I just lost my baby (dachshund) of 17 years, Greta, about two months ago. My husband got Nixie for me because he knows how much I love dachsies.
In spite of the prices out here, I love SoCal. The weather and the beach are hard to beat. We just bought a condo in Playa del Rey, so it looks we're here t...Expand for more
o stay for a while. My family and I love to get out and go for walks with the dogs, or boogie boarding/surfing, running, etc.

Workplace
I took the long route to my undergrad at UTSA -- working full-time the first ~five years and going part-time. I finally got serious, moved home (I know that sounds funny, but it worked), worked part time and finished my last 54 hours in 1 1/2 years.
Started working as a stringer, then an editorial assistant, and then a reporter at the San Antonio Light until it was closed in 1993.
Worked for CPS in public relations for a little over a year before deciding to get an MBA.
Quit work at CPS, went full-time to Rice for two years and got my MBA. Best career move I ever made! Have been at a software company in Houston since graduating in 1996. Love my job!
