Brion's Story

After High School I went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and left six years later with B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering. I spent eight years in the Seattle area, during which I got married (1983), became a parent and worked for various companies. My son, Martin, is now 25 years old and he lives in San Diego with his wife, Kristen. My job with Hewlett-Packard company in Washington State started in 1984. While working at HP my family and I got to live in Germany for six months and we got transferred to Fort Collins, Colorado, near where I currently reside. I've now been in Colorado for 21 years, the longest I've ever lived anywhere. My wife and I divorced in mid-2002. I got laid off from my job 2004, kicked around in various dead-end contract engineering jobs for the last while and now I'm on medical deferment for going to the Peace Corps. That's because I had a heart attack in 2007. I'm feeling well and healthy now and am waiting to see what new adventures life brings. I tried to post the link to my BLOG, which I've been writing for over four years now, usually on a weekly basis, but sometimes more often. Mostly it's defunct now. You can find me on Twitter by name or by taking my first name and first initial of my last name and mashing them together. Also, I have a website that ...Expand for more
hasn't been updated in years but has a more complete biography, with a large high school section and a lot of writing about living in Clarendon Hills back in those days. To find it you'll have to Google for Brion Emde and it should be right at the top. There's a link to the blog on that webpage too; a veritable one-stop shopping experience! Right now I'm house-sitting at my son and daughter-in-law's house. My son got a job in San Diego and they moved out there. I'm finished my software project and it turned out to be too late and was too complex for total success. Maybe they can use it next year. I appreciate those of you who have stopped by to read what I've written and to look at the pictures. I try to remember to keep things up to date, to reward your efforts. In fact, I wish more of you would post pictures and write up a little something for me to read when I visit your profiles. I'd also like to post my email address, but, of course, this site would like to keep a monopoly on that for their own commercial purposes. But, never fear: if you do look me up on the web, you'll see an email address on the aforementioned personal webpage that will get mail to me (in fact, almost no one but male-enhancement and watch replica spammers ever do write me there). Please, surprise me with some personal correspondence!
