Brock's Story
My folks were kind of nomads. I went to four different elementary schools and three different middle schools.
Westgate Elemetary School in Metarie, LA (1st grade).
Sherwood Elementary School in Arnold, MO (2nd grade).
Meremac Elementary School in Fenton, MO (3rd and part of 4th grade).
Lincoln Elementary School in St. Charles, MO (4th, 5th and 6th grade).
TL Hardin Jr.High in St. Charles, MO (7th and most of 8th grade).
Fort Zumwalt Jr. High in O'Fallon, MO (the rest of 8th grade).
New Sarpy Middle School, New Sarpy, LA (repeated 8th grade, but promoted back to 9th half way through the year).
Destrehan High School, Destrehan, LA (9th and part of 10th grade).
I didn't actually go to High School in Missouri, but if I had it would have been St. Charles High. Since I spent most of my school years in St. Charles, I have the most memories from those years.
Needless to say, I never really stayed in one place long enough to form real friendships, and so most of the time I really didn't try. If you remember me at all from those years, you probably remember me as kind of a loner. I remember quite a few names from those years, but my best friends were always books and music. They still are.

After high school, I worked for a few years before I went to college. I earned my Associates' Degree in Life Sciences at Florrisant Valley Community College and a second Associates' Degree in Wildlife and Forestry Management via correspondence school.
While in college, I signed up with the Student Conservation Association (a volunteer/internship program) and served a six-month internship at Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. I got to help with various wildlife surveys and studies and use that information to present environmental ed programs and guided hikes. It was just a way for me to get away, but I found that I really loved the work and applied for (and got) a job there. I spent several years at Shenandoah and at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park working sometimes as a park ranger and sometimes as an emergency services dispatcher.
I am now the administrative manager for a National Park in Kansas and have worked for the National Park Service for nearly 18 years.
I met my wife Janice while in college. We married in 1991 and have four children (all boys, including twins) ranging from age 8 (the twins) to 15 and 17.
