Brooke's Story
Life
Well, after I graduated from WWU, I worked in Seattle as a Web Developer until my company went out of business 4 months later. So, I packed up and moved to San Diego to check out sunny SoCal. Lived on the beach for a year, working as a web developer for a small software company then moved back up to the NW and worked from home for the next year and a half for the same company. Still doing development, only I've shifted from doing web development to doing more back end software development, I know... even dorkier. But, I'm living in Queen Anne near Seattle Center and loving it. Don't know if I'll ever want to move out of the city again.
...The picture was in front of my home in SD...a guy was down in front of my place walking his snake so I went down there to check it out...pretty wild...
Workplace
After graduating college, I got a job at a "Dot ...Expand for more
Com" that went under after about 5 months of working there. Soooo, I packed up my bags and moved to SD where I got a job as an "office assistant". Having that title allowed the company to pay the salary of a secretary for web development work. Oh well, I worked there for about a year, then moved back up to the Seattle area where I did the same job, only working out of my home. The flexible hours were great, I just missed working in an office full of people. But, I would recommend working from home to anyone at least once in your life. Summers were great, not being stuck in an office on those rare hot and sunny days of Seattle! Now I'm working at another software company doing software development and honing my skills to hopefully run with the big dogs some day and land some lucrative position at Microsoft or something so I can retire when I'm 40. We'll see.
