Bruce's Story
After high school, I joined the Army Reserves and spent a couple of years around Puyallup moving from job to job and never really finding something to hold my interest. Around the time I turned 21, I got my girlfriend at the time pregnant and so I decided to move from the reserves to active duty. My first assignment was Baumholder, Germany. Not too long after I got there, my girlfriend broke up with me and had my oldest daughter on her own. After spending 2 1/2 years in Germany, I then was stationed in Tampa, Florida. able to do that, so in March 1995 I got out of the Army and moved to Omaha, Nebraska to go to college. A year after moving to Omaha I met my wife and a year later we were married. I never really was satisfied with a civilian life, so in September 1998 I came back onto active duty and continue to serve to this day. Since returning to the Army I have been stationed in Monterrey, California; Fort Lewis; England; Savannah, Georgia; and currently Chicago. I have had deployments to Somalia, Haiti, Thailand and twice to Iraq. I now have 2 more beautiful daughters and have been married for over 11 years.
