Bryan's Story
Life
Anybody reading this will know everything prior to 1990, so I'll move on from there. College didn't work out too well. Too much free time, not enough discipline. Found out the hard way that a 1.634 GPA over two semesters won't impress too many people. So, tired of studying and sitting in classrooms all the time, I joined the Navy to enter the Nuclear Propulsion Program. OOPS!! Eighteen months of 12-16 hour days hitting the books, learning procedures, memorizing limits, studying principles. Just what I wanted. Anyway, ended up on submarines. Seen some neat places, got to run around in a few of them (BTW, Scotland in August can't be beat if you're looking for a good time). Got married in July of 1996 to a wonderful woman (Celeste) I met during the summer of 1990. We worked together at a YMCA camp in California. She was a counselor, I was the lifeguard. We drifted apart after the summer, but worked together the next year in the same camp. Our relationship really blossomed that second summer, but it wasn't meant to be. At least not yet. She finished college and I got my career going. On a whim, I sent her a letter during one of my patrols. It ended up at her mom's, and we started talking. I invited her out for Christmas 95, and as soon as she got off ...Expand for more
the plane, I knew that we were meant to be together. Anyway, we're quickly approaching our twelth anniversary and our son, Joshua, is cruising through the first grade. I've got sixteen years in the Navy, not sure how much farther I'm going to go. I am enjoying my first true shore duty assignment on the staff of Submarine Squadron Seventeen in Bangor, Washington as the Reactor Controls Assistant. For those of you that may remember the good old ROGATE days and that wonderful little Commodore PET game "Nuclear Reactor Operator For a Day," well, that's me. I get to train and supervise nine crews on five different submarines how not to blow up their reactors. YEA!!
Anyway, if anybody from good ole' Jonesboro happens to stumble across this, send me note. Wouldn't mind hearing from you!
