Bryan's Story
School
I attended Lafayette Center Elementary. My second grade year there was the last year it was Lafayette Center Highschool. Now that school is gone. I went to homestead when it was a Jr/Sr highschool. Woodside was bran new while I was there. I graduated in 1980 and was pretty clueless about what direction I was headed next. Music was on the list of things to do, though.
College
My college experiences simply didn't occur as I'd hoped. I attended IPFW for one year after graduating high school, and found it extremely dissappointing. After joining the USMC, I attended the armed forces school of music in Norfolk VA. I've since pursued receiving private instruction since renewing my musical pursuits and it has, indeed, paid off. Along the way, I've also completed my Associates degree in computer programming at Ivy Tech, here in Fort Wayne.
Workplace
I'm currently employed as an IT manager at Fox Products Corporation. I find the most challenging aspect of my job to be interacting with the diverse and unique individuals that are employed here. It's been a rough day - I may revise this later! Prior to working here, I worked with my family in their business South West of Fort Wayne - Gibson Gra...Expand for more
in. Although it was a way of life for my parents, it provided me a good transition from the USMC to where I am now, and ultimately where'll I'll be next.
Military
I joined the USMC on Oct 3, 1981 - I attended basic training at MCRD San Diego California. I graduated from 3rd BN Plattoon 3096 near the end of December of 81. I was sent to FSSC Camp Johnson for basic bakers' training (hey. NO giggling). After graduating high in my class (I still kick ass in the kitchen), I was transferred to MCRD Parris Island for duty in the base bakery. I worked there for alittle over two months before successfully completing an AA form and transferring to the Band, which was right down the street. In 1984, I attended the armed forces school of music, where I tested out of the second half and was sent to 2nd MAW Band, Cherry Point (not quantico, unfortunatley). Although I attained the rank of Sergeant in september of 87, I pursued a civilian carreer, effective March 1988, believing I could provide my family with a better life beyond the Marine Corps. I draw upon those times for the strength and tenacity to pursue my interests and dreams, the likes of which my well educated civilian counterparts might find envious.
