Bryan's Story
**** Quick Rundown ****
Hi friends,
THE NUTSHELL:
For twenty years I traveled the country working with severely disabled children. I am also an author, artist, digital artist, AI animator, and photographer. I have two new children's books on Amazon, "Clouds at Play" and "Let's Find Funny Faces!" Check out my artwork too on FineArtAmerica.com under my pen-name, Brian Jay.
I lived in Alaska on and off for twelve years, where I had three children- Kyra, Kimberly, and Bryan. As of 2026 their are ages 44, 47, and 50! My son Bryan's daughter Kalahi is now 31. Kalahi is half Native Alaskan/Athabaskan Indian. My daughter Kimberly has a girl named Trinity, who is half Lumbee Indian. My daughter Kyra has to sons, Taj & Zayn, who are half 'India', Indian. How this coincidence came about, I will never know.
THE DETAIL:
On my first travels in '75, I lived in Pecos, New Mexico with monks in a place called "The House of Joy". We had strict vows of poverty and did what we could to help those in our community. In exchange, the people took care of our needs. I later returned to Cali, where I made plans to travel to Alaska with Mark Web, Jackie Bester and Korine Leyden. We drove the Alcan Hwy, which was two thousand miles of rough and dusty dirt road. Once in Seward, I married Korine and had the three kids. I worked in a fish cannery, bakery, and a State run Vocational Technical School, where I became a recreation aid and then librarian. For a short period, I was a drawing instructor for the Kenai Peninsula Community College. I then taught myself computer programming, briefly corresponded with Steve Jobs, and became one of the first producers of computer programs for preschoolers.
In 1984 I divorced and moved back to Riverside with my son, where I began traveling often to Hollywood. I got involved with movie special effects at MGM Studios, but because of the toxic environment, I decided not to continue in the field. I then began a company called Heritage Videography, where I videotaped and edited hundreds of weddings and sports events. At the same time, I met a guy named RJ Cooper and began creating software for his special needs company, RJ Cooper & Assoc, Inc. RJ and I traveled the country, where we used our software and hardware inventions to help make breakthroughs in the lives of children. It was then that I became one of the first (if not the first) to create a fully computer generated talking character.
In 1988 I married a woman named Devin VanHorn, but divorced in 1994. Other things I've done: Dug dinosaur bones in Wyoming for a university in TX, served on a Christian mission in the Amazon region of Brazil, became a carpenter, technology specialist, became a senior helper, worked with the Union Pacific Railroad, drove luxury busses, transporting miners to the gold mines in Nevada, and also drove cab in Alaska. In all, I've worked for fifty companies in these past fifty some years.
THIS GETS CRAZY:
For twenty years, I bounced around from Riverside to Dana Point, to San Clemente, to Imperial Beach, to Malibu, to Lake Arrowhead, until making a big move to Texas in 2006, where I worked with senior citizens for 6 years, moved back to Alaska for three more years, working on the Alaska Railroad, moved to Dade City, Florida for close to 2 years creating paintings, spent time in Bellingham, WA, Florence, OR, Elko, NV, back to the mountains in CA, then to St. George, Utah, bac...Expand for more
k to CA, returning again to Florida, back to Alaska for half a year, then returning a third time to Florida, and in 2024 did some nomad traveling, finally settling into the Appalachian mountains of West Virginia, where I once again worked with senior citizens, and then in late 2025, I returned to Florida for the forth time! My kids and grand kids live on both ends of the country, so I'm often traveling to see them.
I've remained a Christian and my faith is everything. I've been to Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, and The Netherlands. Of all, Italy is my favorite. I hope to live on the Mediterranean coast some day.
Under my pen name, Brian Jay, I wrote two children's books: "Clouds at Play" and "Let's Find Funny Faces!" In these picture books, children are encouraged to find animals and characters in real cloud formations. I used my digital graphic skills to then tweak the clouds into amazing images.
Under my actual name, I wrote a mystery novel based on Elvis Presley called "Cliff of the King". My Alaska Dad, Max, was a good buddy of Elvis, and so I was privileged to some amazing information about the King. Cliff of the King was slated to become a feature film by New Line Cinema, but when Warner Brothers purchased New Line, my film was dropped. That was the big one that got away. All of my books can be found on Amazon.com.
On the fun side, I attended renaissance fairs for many years dressed as a pirate. While in Malibu, I infiltrated the Hollywood crowd and had some fascinating times, meeting some amazing people. I rubbed elbows with Sean Penn, Rene Zellweger, Mini Driver, Bob Saget, Fran Drescher (we danced), Sean William Scott, David Duchovny, Tia Leone, Barbara Streisand, Julia Roberts (we picked out puppies), Garth Brooks, Joaquin Phoenix, Kate Hudson, Dennis Rodman (Craps in Vegas & bar hopping in Laguna), John Cusack, and Alic Baldwin. The list goes on and on.
I've continued painting and drawing over the years, but have recently developed allergies to all paint. This has become quite the speed-bump, but I'm finding ways to continue with my art.
At some point in the next couple years, I plan to nomad around the country in a comfy RV, while photographing faces in rock formations for my third children's book. I'll even provide GPS coordinates so that the parents of readers can retrace my travels and find the special rocks for themselves, or even search them out on Google Earth.
I am also working on an autobiography titled, "My Box of Chocolates." It will hopefully be a fascinating read about a nobody who appears to pop up in the background of many of the most notable events with many of the most notable people in modern history.
RECENTLY:
In 2025, I educated myself on AI prompting and animation and now create short comedy scenes for an AI software company. My work is all over TikTok and Instagram. I openly label my funny snippets as AI and avoid creating what they call "Brain Rot." I work four to five hours a day, six days a week and am having a great time!
My life is very full. I keep myself healthy through intermittent fasting, a diet of seafood, vegetables, and water, I walk two mile daily, and swim in the summer. Many of my ancestors lived well into their 100's, so I figure that with my genetics, good health and modern science, my chances of one day becoming the oldest living man are definitely possible. (c:
Thanks for reading.

Bryan
