Bryan's Story
Life
Yes .... I have a life .... surprised???? ... I am too!! OK OK >>> here's the deal .... graduated HS, did some college, but was drafted after 2 semesters of part-time, joined Air Force instead, became a firefighter and EMT for the AF, eventually got out, then got a job, got married, 2 kids, motorcycles, boats, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, now computers, ! BUT ... got a divorce in 2011 , remarried in 2013 and having fun getting old, colonoscopies, slow hairloss, libido slowing down too, (wife thankful), heartburn, high blood pressure, joints stiffer, eyes don't work, high fiber diet, low carb hell, but thankful for positive red wine health reports!! Somehow I'm having more fun than ever! OK ... 2017 update ... married a wonderful gal from Indiana, retired in 2012 (40 years working for Seattle City Light) and moved to Surprise Arizona in 2013. Sunshine everyday, golf every week, poolside cocktails and wonderful neighbors. My new bride is amazing. Traveling every chance we get!
As for the suggested "story items" I'll go ahead and answer a few :::::
1. What about me would surprise everyone at the re-union? Hmmm .. not much, my life is an open book. I went to winemaker certification school for 4 years, and enjoy making small quantities (20-40 gal) of quality wine. Although have not done so since our move to AZ. 2. Which teacher would I like to see again?? ... several, but probably Mr Oistad, my Math teacher who changed the way I looked at education and was the first to boost my confidence and inspire my desire to actually learn.
3. The wildest thing I ever did in school?? wow .. so many I can't even reveal today ... but one was my occasional playing hookey" during april & May fishing season. A friend of mine, Cal Tomicich and I would not go to school that day and instead h...Expand for more
eaded to one of the small lakes and go fishing all morning. We imagined truant officers behind every tree and even tried to camaoflage our boat. Martha lake, Green Lake, Lake Washington etc all were our hiding places. Twice I brought my catch to school in the afternoon and cleaned them with Pete Stewarts help in the Chemistry lab, leaving Wendall McCain wondering what the smell was after we tried to dissolve the guts with sulfuric & HCl acid.
4. What happened to my first crush ??? 4th grade .. Bonnie Berg ... she grew up, became even more beautiful, and promptly forgot all about me!! LOL
5. How do I hope old friends will remember me? ... nice guy, smart, funny and clairvoyant!
6. To be truly happy? ... I'd be retired right now, living on a large boat ..45+ ft, trawler type yacht, cruising the San Juan, Gulf & Alaska islands ..and traveling with my wife ..or whomever will put up with all that!! lol
7. My biggest surprise in life about how things turned out?? ... This one is to personal .. sorry folks...
8. What would my one " Do-Over" be?? ... There are several here too ... but the one that often comes to mind when asked is that I would like to have finished my college education before joining the Air Force.
9. Wierdest job I have ever had? hmmm ... I've been lucky and have had many very good and rewarding jobs .. I'll have to think more about this one.
10. Where have I lived, Why did I move. .. Well I basically stayed in Seattle, not far from my childhood home .. I've had brief stays in Alaska, California, Texas, Illinois and Montana and more recently Indiana.. and traveld to many other places, but I always felt there was no better place than the Puget Sound area. Ooops .. well, I'm living in Arizona now and absolutely love it! But yes I do enjoy returning to visit Washington.
