Bryan's Story
Life
After Myers Park, went to Clemson and then to UNCC. After graduation, 3 years working as a manager at The Charlotte Observer before moving into the I.T. field. That led to consulting jobs with Duke Power and then First Union. Left FUNB for UPS, but came back with FUNB with the Capital Markets group as a Sr. Network Admin/Assistant Vice President. Then we merged into the new Wachovia and our group became the Corporate Investment Bank.
2006 leading into 2007 was high work travel season like never before. Normally I only take 3-4 trips a year domestically (although I was in our Bermuda office some in 2004), then in early 2006 I spent 3 weeks working at our Park Avenue office in Manhattan...then was working at our Santo Domingo office in the Dominican Republic and our Buenos Aires office in Argentina in May...then I was in our Portland and Seattle offices in July.

way back to the states contracting a 90 minute flight over the canal and rainforests. When we first liftoff the tarmac the pilot said what kind of flight you want...we have no "FAA" I said roller coaster is fine. So off we went skimming tree tops and Lake Gatun. Then when we ran into some heavy rain set down in a hotel parking lot walking into the bar until the storms passed. Not something you do in Charlotte.
I went back to Ecuador in early 2007 taking an unforgettable side trip to the Galapagos Islands; then later in 2007 to San Palo, Brazil. My work in international made me a candidate for the Wachovia technology manager over European infrastructure based out of London, but my management did not want to pay the relocation and emigration costs.
Not much travel in 2008 with current market conditions. My current position is working as a Vice President/Engineer Lead supporting Wachovia CIB Global Foreign Exchange & Energy Commodities Trading groups.
Life is good...still working on the next chapter.
