Burl's Story

Life I found this site a few weeks ago. Although I have had little contact with my high school classmates over the years, it has been fascinating to see what became of some folks. As for myself since High School: I went to college for a while. I dropped out of college. I worked oilfield and construction job domestically and overseas for 6 years. I went back to college. I graduated from Texas A&M with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1985. I spent 10 years as a “university bum”, working in College Station and offshore. Ambition got the best of me in 1995 and I got a real job. I spent 10 years working on NASA and DOD projects in Texas and California. Now I’m ...Expand for more
working as a Safety and Mission Assurance Engineer at NASA. I managed to go to a few odd corners of the world and still make it back to Houston in one piece. I had my luggage torn apart by U.S. Customs several times. Nigerian Immigration wanted to throw me out of the country. I had the Colorado Highway Patrol partially disassemble my car. I sat next to a suspected bomb at Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris. I never got around to making a family, but I have another 48 years to do that. My present goal is to work for the same employer and keep the same address for four years. If I succeed, it will be the first time since high school I have done either of these.
