Burton's Story
I am married to Martha Ann Jacobsen, Napa High class of '66. We have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. We married in 1967. I went to Vietnam as an Army 1st Lieutenant in 1968. I served in the Mekong Delta as the Artillery Forward Observer for A Company, 2/39th Infantry, and A Company, 5/60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division. In 1969 I went to flight school and flew both fixed and rotary wing aircraft in the U.S., Europe, the middle east and Hawaii until my retirement at the Presidio, SF in 1992. I completed a BS, with honors, and graduate work in Psychology at Cal Poly, SLO and I'm an honors graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College. e, Idaho since 2000 along with our son's and daughter's families. Life is good. I collect historical photos and documents, fly fish, bike, and build muscle cars at my commercial shop. I also MIG weld sculptures from car and motorcycle engine parts. Wishing all old friends and classmates love, happiness and respect.
* On June 23, 2023, we lost our precious son, Beau to brain cancer. He was an incredible son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many. A 4th generation veteran of the USLSS and the USCG, he served out of Coast Guard Island, Alameda with duty aboard the cutters Munro, and the Midgett. Beau is missed.
He was awarded 100% VA service connected disability.
