Biggest Crush: Up until my Senior Year, I had a serious crush on Lee Bartholomeo; Son of one Charles Of Italy-Hair Stylist and Salon Owner/Educator. Don't know what it is about the "Italianos", but Lee was "IT" for me. Now, Wesley Humphrey was the ONE teacher that stood out the most from my memory as having 'inspired' me. He never gave up on ANY ONE of his students; I certainly was trying, at best, for him. Thanks, H! I would GLADLY do high school over, but I'd probably do it all, EXACTLY like I did it, then! I had a blast! Hated my home life, but man, SCHOOL WAS IT! There was a world, all my own. My peers and kids there were 'exactly' what I needed to shape my attitude for later in life.
Now, for the Funniest memories: I will never forget the band-antics we'd get up to. Taking cars, RIGHT OUT OF THE PARKING LOT, from infront of the band room, and PLACING them in the gravel area, that use to be OUT in front of the band room, where the MARQUE was/is? There were cars the could no longer be moved, because our TUBA SECTION placed them, JUST SO, as to block them in, etc. Usually, there were some seriously p.o.'d parents and students when they came out to find their vehicle immovable. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh, it was great! Then, my Freshman year, P.E.; on the UPPER FOOTBALL FIELD (the one Coach Barnes would get up, early each morning and go water, because there was NO ONE ELSE! (telling on you now, Mrs. Barnes!) and the boys were just acting like boys, and before we girls knew it, MOST of the boys had been pantsing one another. I remember Jeff Soderberg was one of the main culprits; and, I might add, one of the BETTER looking boys, with out shorts on.. than the rest. *wink*. Heck, Jeff is STILL one of the better looking MEN we have from our group! (hugs to his wifey, Laur...Expand for more
ie) Then, the craziest memory would have to be my Freshman year, getting ready and WAITING AND WAITING AND WAITING to march in the London Bridge Days Parade; there was a Drum and Bugle corp from Riverside, CA. A few of us, tired and bored, took to congragating around the corp, and listening. Well, with in about 1/2 hours, and several q&a sessions and listening to them practice, I noticed majority of OUR band members had floated back over to the band, and I was now the one being surrounded by members of that corp! We all chatted, met up with a few of the members after the parade in the Denny's parking lot and make dates to meet that night, under the London Bridge for the festivities. WOW! What a night that turned out to be! I met Gary Lee of Riverside, CA; fell in love and began my FIRST, Long Distance Romance/Relationship; One of a few to come in my life! Well, needless to say, Gary and I kept in touch for about 5 years, off and on. His good friend, from the group, Liz Benjamin, and I became really close and I attended her wedding in 1984, after graduation. Even talked the other wedding party members into using WHITE SHOE POLISH and writing "HELP" on the sole of the GROOMS LEFT shoe, and "ME" on his RIGHT sole. It was all we could do, to keep from busting up in the church, as Joey knelt down for the ceremonial kneelings (what ever they call them) and even with the letters half worn off, you could here snickers rolling through the santuary. THAT is EXACTLY what being a member of LAKE HAVASU HIGH SCHOOL and LAKE HAVASU CITY were all about, as a TEEN AGER! So, parents of students there, take heart. Your child(ren) DO have potential! I may not have been class valedictorian, but I did grow up, move away, came back several times and turned out NICELY!
