Life After high school I dabbled at college, off and on, for about five years. Then came love and marriage, 15 years working in the wine industry and ten years at the Press Democrat newsroom, and two wonderful children, a boy and a girl. My husband and I are still married, 29 years now, but who's counting, right? Now, in June 2007, our daughter Rebecca (23) is going back to school, at Mills College in Oakland, and our son Dylan (26) is living in Portland and tackling law school at Lewis & Clark. And me? In 2002, 47 years after living in the town I was born in, I left Santa Rosa to live in southwest France. My husband and I now operate a bed-and-breakfast near Sarlat in the Dordogne Valley. Life at "La Tour de Cause" is good. We spent two years restoring and renovating an old stone "maison de maitre" and barn, and are now into our fourth season of business. Our friend Michael Hirschberg (Matisse/Siena/Mistral/Sassafras restaurants) brings groups of folks from Sonoma County to come over and spend a week with us, touring the area and exploring the local cuisine.
