Calvin's Story

Life Full circle - Flint, Michigan to Grissom AFB, Indiana to Offutt AFB, NE to Whiteman AFB, MO to Grand Rapids, MI - home at last! Living in Grand Rapids, MI. Two majors and one minor later I am still not directly utilizing that which the Godfather of Knowledge gave me. OK, so neither does half the world but I should have attended a vocational / technical institute instead. Surely they create more opportunities for themselves, right? Give my regards to the man upstairs because time will tell how soon I join Him, and under what circumstances. Please write if you're interested in more random musings about life in general... School "School" was a blur due to so many distractions. I sometimes wonder if I was more a student of pop culture than anything else because I owe an awful lot to the street sense and camaraderie I picked up from skateboarding, which took place during the majority of middle/high school. (enter Clint and Peter) It was shortly thereafter that I had to endure many visits under the knife. Post-op days were almost entirely spent at WAFB's rec center, with special emphasis on full-rehab. I didn't have time for romance or superficial hook-ups so I focused entirely on getting my balance and coordination under me again. Worked well because I can still walk a straight line when asked by the blue uniformed persuasion. People who would absolutely add value if I were to re-connect are as follows: Heather Garcia Rodney Hargrove Beth Lowery Clint Bailey Peter Kolb Ken Wiatrek Lisa Lewis Karli Hall Jack Haenggi Mike Black Scott Babka If I should never be fortunate enough to catch up to them on the outside, I will have counted my time already spent in their company as a great blessing. College What more can one say about school? Nothing special here... attended University of Nebraska-Lincoln on a whim. Left Mizzou to live with my brother (Clyde Webb Jr.) in Nebraska and ended up realizing that I didn't want to waste any more time and postpone the inevitable, which led to applying to UNL. I had originally intended to obtain an Associates and transfer my credits to Western Michigan University, but little did I know UNL didn't offer two year programs. Of course I didn't decide to find this out until well into my sophomore year. Managed to choose my classes strategically and somehow ended up with a double major in English and Psychology, with a minor in Communication Studies. The latter was act...Expand for more
ually planned but the rest I just sort of tripped over. They say college is supposed to be the best time of your life. Well, I either had my nose too far in the books or picked the wrong school because I don't recall it being a grand experience. Workplace Should have decided to obtain something other than a Liberal Arts background. CitiGroup recently laid me off as a Senior Loan Officer but thankfully I didn't wait in the wind too long before Annex Brands/Pak Mail came calling for help, where I now hang my hat as daily Operations Manager. Military Medically discharged from 9th week in Basic. Lack of full range of motion in left leg, not suitable for combat. Didn't know that US Army personnel had to be so well trained when my MOS was Social Services. However, it didn't really matter because the mishap should have been caught at MEPS, long before I even boarded a plane for Louisville, period. Not exactly my idea of being all that I could be so this experience is listed purely as a formality. PASSION As they say, save the best for last, right? Not being one to follow trends I decided to make an exception here. Suffice it to say there is no more single important thing in my life than my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am happily married with five children, two more if you count our fur kids. Seven under one roof often presents its challenges but it's the lot I was given and I intend to serve them without taking the privilege for granted. If you've made it this far... you both have too much time on your hands and need help, or you sincerely are interested in keeping abreast of what's going on in my turntable of a life. Should it be the latter, I thank you. The single most beautiful intangible gift any one of you could offer me is blatant honesty and full disclosure. I've learned from experience that I have little tolerance with people who keep me guessing, or withhold certain elements of their testimony for fear of what I might say/think. Seriously, don't concern yourself with either of those things because I can assure you my last preoccupation is with providing anything less than a safe and secure platform for you to share with me. I give you my word on this, trust me. If you navigated to this page by chance or anything else beyond what might be a genuine and sincere connection between me and you, at some point in our lives, thanks for appeasing me and kindly be on your way. Godspeed. CW
