Camille's Story
Life
I am married to Walter Wright, a dentist in Section and we have two children. John is 21 and attends the University of South Alabama. He is in Information Technology (Computers). John is very quite and reserve, more like his father. Austin is 18 and is a live wire. He attends Section High School where his mother was the principal for two years!! He loved that don't you know. I am now working for Madison City Schools as the Director of Secondary Instructon.
School
Who was MY biggest crush??? All of them.(Remember I was voted Biggest Flirt.) I guess my favorite teacher was Debra Tally. She kicked my butt a time or two(verbally) and kept me in line. In elementary I loved singing with Mrs. Brown and that she read TO us. My favorite memories are being in science class in the lab cutting up or harrassing Mrs. Hutch!
College
I went to Auburn right out of high school. That fall, I made a C and 2 F's. WAAAY too much fun!!! After Daddy threatened to bring me home, I straightened up and actually went to class (amazing how that turned my grades around). Due to Northeast and going summers, I graduated in 3 years (NOT a smart thing to do, but hindsight is 20/20). Gus stretched his college career out to 7 years. I wish I had been that smart! I came home and taught one year at NSM. I then went back to Auburn, worked on my ...Expand for more
Masters degree and taught at Tallassee Middle School. The next year I came back home, got married and began teaching at Macedonia. In 1989 I decided to go back to school and get an administration degree. I had to go to Alabama (don't hold that against me!). I graduated with a doctorate in Administration in 1995. I also taught for Jacksonville University as an adjunct professor from 2003-2007. I typically taught in Ft. Payne, and taught various classes like curriculum, philosophy, and current issues in education.
Workplace
I started out teaching for ten years then became principal of Paint Rock Valley School. After 4 years, I move to principal of Macedonia. I then became prinicpal of Section High School for two years. It was weird being principal at Section, but I LOVED my job. I worked with some fabulous people, most of whom we went to school with. Section is still a great place to be. Last year I took a position in Madison City School system as Director of Secondary Instruction. It is a central office job. They pay me twice as much to do half the work I did at Section. I love this job but miss being at Section. I guess it was a good career move. It kind of ruined my bid for Superintendent, but I decided I wasn't really ready for THAT responsibility!! My son, Austin, is still at Section, so I get to stay involved.
