Candy's Story
Life
I used to wonder at people who said, "I look in the mirror and what I see doesn't match who I think I am". Well, it's happened. I got married (still with my "starter husband") , had kids (2 plus 13 foster kids), worked (mostly as a teacher), moved (to GA, SC & TN), and thought I was "aging gracefully". Even dealt with becoming a grandmother well. But then my husband turned 70 and I wondered how I could possibly be married to someone that old! I don't like the alternates, so I let it go... :-)
College
I studied at 4 colleges; earned 2 degrees (plus some extra hours); majored in art ed, double minored in English and theater, mastered in education. (Was considered the odd-ball in the art dept. -- my hair was always washed and my clothes match...Expand for more

Workplace
I love proving nay-sayers wrong. I taught art for 28 years, working mostly at the elementary level. I've illustrated 2 childrens' books, written or co-authored three more (including one for the National Art Education Association), and have been featured in magazine articles. I teach at a women's center. I also went into business as a basketry designer and teacher. I teach at conferences and guilds across the southeast. To a certain high school teacher who said I didn't have the talent to go into the art field, I'd like to say... :-p
Next adventure - retirement! Love to kayak, garden, read and craft. Count me in for ANY trip to a beach. Maybe a road trip or two to reconnect with my past. Linda, I may arrive on your doorstep yet!!
