Candace's Story
Life
After 9 years with Children and Family Services in Arkansas, investigating child abuse and neglect, I decided it was time for a "cushy" job. I am still with Department of Human Services, but now I work for the Division of Early Childhood Education. I license and monitor child care facilities and Pre-K programs with Rogers School District. It is nice to see children being taken care of and educated instead of being battered and bruised!! Not near as stressful and the hours are actually normal! Children and Family is where my passion lies, but after a while, it consumes you and there comes a time when you have to let go!! ke. I like my new job and it is fun.
My son has moved back home and is doing very well. He works full time, is a full time student, and a father. He worked very hard to get his parental rights established through the court and I am very proud that as a young man, he fought for that. It is uncommon for a 22 year old man to want that so badly. We now get to visit Lilly on a regular basis and it is wonderful getting to know her. She is three years old and it has been different having a little one around after so long. Chris is my only child and we are very close. It has been the two of us for a very long time. I don't get back to Ada much anymore, after my mom died in '99. I am looking forward to our 30th reunion in a couple of years.
