Carl's Story

Life My Spouse We were introduced by a mutual friend. This happenned in Roanoke, VA soon after graduation from Purdue while employed by the Norfolk & Western Railway Company. My Pets I guess that horses technically aren't pets although we treat them that way. My wife was competing in the sport of dressage. She was at the very earliest stages of dressage competition and was training her horse while she learned the sport herself. Now our horse has gotten older and is not sound every day. She is really more of a pet than anything else now and is pretty much retired. We may get another one someday but...Expand for more
it will be a while. Earlier we had a mixed breed dog that lived to be 17 years old. We haven't gotten another since she died. Maybe we will have one again someday. My Job I now supervise a group of other engineers and technicians designing new bridges for the State of Virginia. I do some design and plan checking myself as well as advise others in the preparation of bridge plans. I also work on problems that arise during construction which come from unforseen field conditions, construction problems and (I hate to say it) plan errors. Yes, even with over 34 years of experience I still flub up.
