Carl's Story
-After high school, I went to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for the USAF ROTC program (1985-1989).
-Graduated from ERAU and was commissioned as an Second Lieutenant (O-1) in the USAF.
-Went to Navigator Training at Mather Air Force Base, Sacramento, CA (1990-1991).
-First assignment was at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma City, OK (1991-1995) flying on the E-3 AWACS aircraft.
Deployed numerous times to the Middle East (Turkey/Saudi Arabia) and Europe during my tour at Tinker.
-Second assignment was at Pensacola Naval Air Station, Pensacola Beach, FL (1995-2000) as an Instructor Navigator on the T-1 Jayhawk. Duties include training new Naval Flight Officers, Marine Aviators and AF Navigators in Low-Level Visual and High Altitude Airway navigation.
-Third assignment was at Beale AFB, Marysville, CA (2000-2003) as a Mission Planner for the U-2 Dragon Lady aircraft. Deployed again numerous times to Saudi Arabia which included tours to the Coalition Air Operations Center (on 9/11, for the beginning of Operati...Expand for more

-Fourth assignment was at MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL (2003-2006), US Central Command (USCENTCOM) serving in the Joint Reconnaissance Center, as the U-2 Subject Matter Expert. This tour was to be mostly served state-side, but again, deployed back to the Middle East, at the Deployed USCENTCOM Headquarters, Doha, Qatar.
-Fifth assignment was back to Beale AFB (2006-2011) working again with the U-2 aircraft. My final oversea tour to the Middle East was my deployment to Baghdad, Iraq assigned as an Air Advisor to the Iraqi Air Force. My duties included working in their Air Operations Center helping with their day-to-day air operations.
-Retired from the Air Force in September, 2011, after serving over 21 years, at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (O-5).
-Currently working as an Information Technology (IT) contractor with a California Air National Guard unit, National Guard Bureau (NGB), Beale AFB, CA (2012-now).
-Married over 24 years, no children.
