Carl's Story
I went to work in Silicon Valley after my college career, during which time I had crammed a 4-year Chemical Engineering degree into 7 years, 6 of which were full-time. I worked in the volatile semiconductor industry for 8 years after graduating from Berkeley. I attended Santa Clara Graduate School of Business, taking classes in their evening program for 4 years during that period and completed an MBA in 1992. I left the industry to start a career in mortgage brokerage, and have had my own small brokerage, Mayfield Mortgage, since 1998. I like the small-scale business environment
I am a single parent, thankfully we are on very good terms so far with my ex. We have three kids, our first daughter is sadly in heaven, our 2nd daughter is in 9th grade, and our son is in 5th grade. They live with me 50% of the time. I really enjoy the time I spend time with them.

my kids teams, and watching college ball. I also enjoy biking, hiking, kayaking, and rafting on the South Fork near Coloma, having trained recently to be a guide for a non-profit Project GO that takes disadvantaged youth on the river . I participate in Cub Scouts with my son, and I volunteer as an advisor and board member for environmental organizations.
I have lived in Palo Alto since 1985. I really enjoy the weather (melted cassette tapes in the car and seat belt buckle burns are now just memories from summer Sacramento days), the outdoor and cultural activities, and Stanford a 15-minute bike ride from my house. I try to attend a live music event at least once a month.
My mother still lives near Del Campo in Gold River, which I enjoy visiting with the easy river and bike trail access. I really miss being two hours from Lake Tahoe, but still try to get up there a couple of weeks per year.
I look forward to connecting with friends from my various schools.
