Carl's Story
While at South High, I drove a white Sport Fury with a 383. It was loud and fairly fast. A popular car for cops to pull over. I also worked at Porky’s, like many in the area. Those years were special, drag racing on Lake Street, and having fun with the car hops. I would gladly do it all over given the opportunity. I remain a hot rodder, and enjoy riding motorcycles out in the country. Unfortunately, no more cruising around Minneapolis lakes and the Parkway. I don’t go into St. Paul either. Both cities are unrecognizable from the past, are historically devastated, and actually more 3rd world than a US metro. The next plan is to look into the rear view mirror as I cross the boarder on my next journey and leave this state like many are doing. I will never forget the great adventure of growing up in South Minneapolis. Rock & Roll, hot rods, Hi Lake, Lake Street, Nokomis, Lake Calhoun, Uptown, Dayton’s, the State Fair….. I hope you look back at those times as outstanding! I sure do. Goodbye Minnesota, I think is better “to be a rock, and not to roll”. 🇺🇸✌️
