Carlos's Story
THE SAGA BEGINS IN 1974 AS THERE WAS JUST TOO MUCH HAPPENING BEFORE I left Ahwaz in 1974 to go to boarding school in Rome. I went to NDI my freshman year of high school. The girls at MMI were a treat, even for us 14-15 year old boys. Movies and pizza anyone? I have fond memories of MMI/NDI events, and the one MMI student, that got away.
I still remember it as if it was yesterday. I wonder whatever happend to .... Loved Rome, and I plan on going back some day.
After Rome my parents went to Norway where I lived 3 years and graduated from SAMS. Best time of my life. I graduated in '78 and went to OU.
I worked in Texas and Louisiana for a while and I was victim of the downturn in the oil field in 1986.
I got a job in Norway in 1986 and returned there after 8 years in the US. I'm a petroleum engineer (what else?) and have lived in Bergen since 1987. I got married in August...Expand for more
1999 to Deirdre from Ireland.
I was working in Mexico as Manager for drilling and completion planning for Statoil Mexico. I have worked in in Venezuela, offshore just south of Trinidad, and inland on the plains where I provided safety training for drilling personnel in the area.
I am back in Bergen as Manger for Drilling Operations for 2 offshore rigs, one in operation and one being built in South Korea.
Life is good and I love being called "grandpa"...(Our Daughter Stephanie (step daughter) had a son Aidan Anthony in December of 2004)
We love to travel and the latest adventure was in Venezuela on our trip to see Angel Falls. The trip took 18 hours in a small boat and I remember going down river at about midnight looking at the canopy of stars and I started humming the theme to the Indiana Jones movies. What a memory. I will definitely take my grandson there some day.
