Carlos's Story
Life
After high school, I ended up at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (eccch!). Spent my Junior year abroad in Paris, France. Received Diplome de culture francaise. Graduated from Urbana in '90, then found work as a bike messenger in downtown Chicago (1990-1991). Became politically involved with the Anarchist movement during the Gulf War. Lived in Detroit for 15 months (1992-1993), came back to Chicago. I was one of those losers who still lived with his parents (on & off) until 1994. Re-entered the ranks of bike messengery in 1994 until 1997. Traveled the U.S. and Mexico quite a bit within that time frame. Moved into a place called the Hotel Kafka (an artistic live/work space in the Humboldt Park neighborhood) at the end of 1996. I now temp for...Expand for more
a living. I published a pamphlet in 2000, "Words of Advice to Young/New Anarchists;" a revision and rewrite long overdue. I moved in with my girlfriend Amy on the other side of Humboldt Park at the beginning of 2002. Attended Chicago School of Massage Therapy from April '02 to August '03. We then moved to San Francisco at the end of 2003, where I am now.
