Carol's Story
Life has been busy, indeed, for me since moving from Newton Highlands to D.C. in 1962; Falls Church and Alexandria, VA. in 1964; Deer Park, L.I., N.Y. in 1967 and back to MA in 1971 where I currently live
with my husband, David. Flashback to D.C.- finished High School at Ursuline Academy, Bethesda, MD. 1964. Since I attended Sacred Heart since 1st grade through grade 10, I consider myself an alumna there. D.C. had it's good times, but it was a difficult transition at 15 years old. I was sheltered during "the 60's" living in
D. C. Earned an AA degree at Immaculata College of Washington, DC 1964-1966. Taught DD children at St. Colletta School in Alexandria and took a course at University of Virginia. Got married way too young at 20 in 1967, and bought a house in Deer Park, L.I., NY in 1967. My 1st son, Arthur Joseph Brunner, was born in 1968; my second son, Christopher John Brunner, was born in 1969. child, Peter Clement Brunner, was born in 1977. Owned and operated a small breakfast, lunch, dinner restaurant; sewed historically accurate bonnets for Old Sturbridge Village, was involved in all the kid things- 4H and Boy Scout Leader, taught CCD; divorced around 1985. Returned to college studying Psychology and Management while raising three boys alone, working two jobs; married David in 1990; he helped me raise Peter and finish BA degree in Psychology and Management in 1990, and Master of Social Work (MSW) in 1995. I am licensed in MA as an Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).. Have worked at various mental health clinics and hospitals and had my own private psychotherapy practice. Tried retirement for a year, then went back to work providing therapy, program development and supervision of psychotherapists and master level therapists. I'm 77 (ugh) and finally retired.. I have one grand daughter, one grandson and fraternal twin great grand daughters born Summer '17. Have been married to David 33 years.
