Carol's Story
Life
Since high school? Longer than I choose to remember this year! But here it is in a nut shell.I attended William and Mary, then married Jim Megrail (H.H.S. 1966)in 1970 and moved to Hampton/Newport News where he worked for NASA. In 1972 our son Andy was born, and in 1974 we moved to our current location in Wichita, Kansas. During the following years, I worked and attended Wichita State University at nights, majoring in broadcast journalism with a minor in marketing and working on my master's in communications.
I've been in turn and sometimes in concert, a radio news person, newspaper feature writer, Public Relations Assistant for HeartSpring, a center for the communicatively handicapped, Development Director (P.R. function/fundraising/grant writing) for the Wichita Symphony, Advertising Director for the Quik Print corporation (yes, the one in Richmond)and account executive/writer for a video/multimedia production company,Innova...Expand for more
tive Communications. In recent years, as president and partner of InCom, I combined scriptwriting with on-site direction, project development, account management, and graphics work, while "on the side" I started Concept Media & Design, a writing and design firm for print pieces and web sites. Freelance work has included being a fundraising consultant, lecturer, speaker and the like.
Two years ago, I took a hiatus to provide daycare for my only grandchild, Kaitlyn, and being, "Nana," gives me the most satisfaction of all my roles. Recently free of daycare responsibilities due to my son and daughter-in-law's move 2 1/2 hours away (I miss them terribly, but it's nice to have a life :-D,) I plan on concentrating more on the business and expanding the possibilities there, as well as doing some serious writing.
Really enjoy seeing all of the familiar names on this site. They trigger a lot of memories. Hope to read more about all of you.
