Carol's Story
Life
Married a guy I met at Kennywood in 1964, who worked in Kiddyland. Dated off and on (we all know how that went), then married him, June 1970 (I was only a baby at 19 years old). What a fool.
We have two great children, Kim (who is presently a nurse at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, PA and part-time at Harmarville Rehab, Harmarville, PA) and Eric (who is a radiologist at Westmoreland Hospital, presently going to attend college for his BA, then on for phsycian).
I still live in Penn Hills on Penn Vista Drive, next door where I grew up. Former Administrator for the In Pittsburgh Newsweekly Newspaper. Sold in 1998. Since then working for the Penn Hills School District, as an Parroperfessional at the Penn Hills High School with special needed students in the Vocational Department. After six years at the high school, transferred to the Penn Hills School District Tax Office located in the old Roberts Elementary School,on Collins Drive, now the Administration Building, presently I changed building again and I am at the past Penn Hebron Jr High, presently known as Penn Hebron Academy Elementary School as the Secretary. Now I know why I took the Secretary Program in High School. Don't use short hand anymore, thank heavens.
I have a wonderful Grandson, Braden Michael McMunn, born January 11, 2006, 8-11, 21 in long. He stays with his Nana a lot since Mom works so much at the Hospitals. One is more than enough. If anyone has more than one.....Expand for more
.and you have them like I have Braden, then you are a saint in my eyes. Old age creeps up very fast now.
Workplace
First worked after being married for 15 years as a scrap steel broker for the Berstein Company, located at Penn Center in Monroeville, PA. Loved visiting all the scrap yards. We own one in McKees Rocks, called MARIE. Owner passed, wife sold the company, son owned a newspaper, so moved on to work for the son at the In Pittsburgh Newsweekly, first as the Comptroller, then changed my title to the Administrator. Very interesting job. John Berstein sold the newspaper to a company out of Philadelphia.
Next went to work for the Penn Hills School District (gluten for punishement since I also graduated from the district). First year, I Sub-Secretary for eight buildings. Got hired full time and worked at the Sr High as a Paraprofessional in the Vocation Programs. After Six years, I transferred to the Administration Building (the old Roberts Elementary) in the Tax Office for the district and Municipality. Didn't care for the co-workers and for anyone who knows me that is hard to believe since I am such an easy going, kin hearted person, so you can imagine what that office was like. Presently at the old Penn Hebron Jr High, better known now as the Penn Hebron Academy Elementary School, as the Secretary. We have over 500 students, plus 3 Pre-Schools and two after school programs. Building is just the same as it was just on a lower level.
