Carol's Story
Still in Midlo, bought my parents house after my mom died. Lost my husband and best friend after 28 1/2 yrs. I have 2 grown children and 4 grandbabies. My daughter and her family live with me and my dogs and cat. Never thought I'd have a cat, but grandson fell in love with it...so what can I say?
On Feb. 14, of this year my son and dil (who already had 15 month old twins) had another baby girl. So, have 5 grandchildren now. Life is good!!! Grandchildren are the greatest!
Enjoying the pool with the grandkids. Had a small deck put up...definitely summer fun!!!
Surrendered my goldendoodle...she became very aggressive and was resource guarding. My grandkids and 2 little dogs were not safe around her. One of the saddest days in my life, but she is with an organization that rescues doodles, so she will stay with her foster mom till she is adopted.
New school year starts soon and looks like I may have about 18 kindergarten children...another interesting year for sure!! LOL
Found out last week that my daughter is having a baby sometime in May...my house will never be quiet again, but that's alright. Wish my dear husband was here to enjoy the grandkids!!
Got a Labradoodle puppy. Her name is Tessa. She is already 12 weeks...she is going to be a big girl...about 60 lbs. Never had a puppy that likes to bite fingers before, but she is learning what NO means. She looks like a big stuffed toy. Last night a thought came to me before I fell asleep....In a few months my daughter will have the baby and now the new puppy...can you say chaos...but hey, it's my chaos!!! haha
Not working Friday, took a personal day. It is the anniversary of my best friend and soul mates death. I cannot believe he has been gone 6 years...don't ever let anyone tell you it gets easier...it does not!!! You just learn to handle each new day a little better then the last.
It's that time of year again when the big guy comes down the chimney. My grandchildren are excited that Christmas is almost here...my 2 yr. old grandchildren (twins) are understanding Christmas this year and are very excited to be getting gifts. My family, my brother, niece and her kids come to my home for Christmas. Food is ordered, bought a new sectional for the living room and den. Still have to buy an area rug for the den, just can't seem to find the right one. Oh well, hope everyone has a Very Merry Christmas!!!
Only 8 1/2 hours left to 2011...so before I forget, let me wish everyone a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Started eating healthy...I was almost thin before my husband became sick and then passed, and after, all I did was eat. Then lost my mom and ate some more. I'm sick and tired of looking the way I do and decided to do something about it. 2 good days in a row...and what does a little boy in my class do today??? Gives me two candy bars. Well, I'm proud to say I did not eat them, but gave them to the grandkids. Chocolate is one of my downfalls, so I do better if I do not eat it...so for now, chocolate 0 me 1. I like that score.
All is still going well on the weight loss front. Down 21 lbs in just a few weeks. I feel soooo much better and am walking. I think I'm the only one walking their dogs on these freezing cold days. Doodles need lots of exercise and so do I, so we are perfect for each other. LOL
Yesterday was a pot luck at work. I brought a huge ceasar salad that my dd made. Everyone loved it. I could not believe all the sweets that others brought!! But I never ate any...I was so proud of myself. I had a bit of the salad and chicken I made the night before. Everyone kept saying "Ms. Carol, did you try mine, did you try mine." I just smiled and said "No thank you, I'm fine," and guess what???? I was!!!
As of last Sunday I was down 28 lbs. Feeling so much better. The same little boy that gave me the candy bars brought me a heart box of candy for Valentines Day along with 2 heart sugar cookies. Gave the cookies to my boss and the candy to my grandkids. I feel too good to eat junk. Loving the Light and Lively yogurt...so many flavors. Can you say mmmmm good!
Saw the Lorax yesterday with my little Lucy. We loved it. Brought sliced apples to munch on instead of popcorn. Good choice cuz as of today I'm down 35 lbs. My new favorite lunch is Subway turkey loaded with all veggies except jalepenos and cukes. Can you say delicious!!! Thinking about taking one of the dogs for a walk, but not sure. I took a fall the other morning when leaving for work and messed up my back...Expand for more
, knee and arm. My chin hit the privacy fence and was all scratched...I landed on my dh's memorial stone. Last time I fell was on ice 36 yrs ago when pregnant with my son. This was sooo much worse...I think age has lots to do with it. Oh well...
Just a little update, I am now down 41 lbs. Wow, I feel great! Love walking and so do the doodle dogs. Easter will soon be here. Having my son and his family over. Can't wait to see my grandbabies. Little Natalie is walking and starting to talk. The other day she said "hi nana' while on the phone. I was sure smiling! Trying to figure out a menu for Easter. Want to cook healthy for everyone. My daughter is going to make angel food cake from scratch with strawberries on it for our dessert. Yummy! If I don't make it back on before Easter hope everyone has a great one!
As of Easter Sunday I'm down 46 1/2 lbs. I feel great. My gk's did not recognize me at first, but after talking to them they knew their nana. Went for a walk today with my WilloWonka and my gd Lucy. We had a great walk although we were cold. After a mile we started home as Lucy was cold. Another update: I am now down 50 lbs. I feel so very good outside of ear infections, cough, and now high bp. Need to visit my dr and have the bp checked out. Do not want it to get out of control.
It's May13, and I have a new grandaughter. She is 3 days old. She is just beautiful. She was 9 1/2 lbs, 21 1/2 inches long. She has a head of almost black hair. Another good thing is that I am now down 56 lbs. It's funny that people who have not seen me in awhile take a second look. I feel so darn good, and love the smaller clothes. Off to take the dogs out on this beautiful day!!
Yesterday was gs 13th birthday; Wow,where did the time go? That means I'm 13 yrs older too...Oh my! LOL On another note, wi was today and I'm now down 58 lbs. Feeling so good. Might take the dogs out for a walk before it gets too hot. Sure do wish my pool was open, we'd use it today and tomorrow. I have to work in the yard today...getting out the weedwacker. I love it!
Enjoying the pool with the gk's. Don't mind the weather much, enjoying it so far. Lost 63 lbs. so far. Life is great!!!
Today is the 4th of July. My dd and her family are at her mom in laws. I stayed home with the dogs. They are so scared of fireworks just could not bring myself to leave them alone. Well, to date I am now down 68 lbs. Can't wait to hit the 70 mark. This is so exciting. Told my dd that I may start dating again, but just not sure. My dh is gone almost 7 yrs now, but I have mixed feelings about entering any type of relationship...we'll see what happens. My job is going well, and since beginning Montessori my days have much less stress. The new grandbaby is almost 2 months. Time sure does go by fast. Hope everyone is having a great 4th.
Things are going pretty well around here. My son and his family just left. We celebrated my bd today. Tomorrow is my actual bd and my anniversary. If my dh were still here we'd of been together for 35 yrs. I still miss him a lot, but know he is in a better place, free of the cancer that invaded his body. I have Monday and Tuesday off. Hopefully going to do something with the gk's...but of course it is going to be another HOT day.
Had a great time at the zoo on Saturday with 3 of my gk's. We must have walked about 6 miles...My back was hurting that night, but felt better on Sunday. Sunday went out to breakfast with my dd, her family and her mom in law. We had a great time. Went to see Magic Mike with my friend yesterday. It was so nice to get out and do something with a friend. Oh yeah, I hit the 70 lb mark, in fact I'm down 72 lbs. Life is so very good!
The weight is creeping off now; down 73 lbs. Just finished cutting grass and pulling weeds. I'm tired. Getting ready to feed the dogs, shower and go to sleep. 4 a.m. comes fast so I need to sleep while I can. I see that there is a 40 yr reunion for my graduating class. Don't think I will make this one either. Not a lot of happy memories from high school...lets just say the so called "preps" made high school a living hell!!!
In such a sad mood today. Just want to cry. Feeling things I should have felt years ago, but when you bury your feelings with food and then stop, I guess sad feelings pop out whenever they want. They sure are not fun to deal with, but I refuse to eat over them. I will never go back to where I was! So, sadness come out and I'll deal with you, and then carry on.
