Carol's Story
Life
I went to Huron College after High school majoring in Social services. I worked with Disabled adults for about 20 years in many different capacities, mostly case management. I also volunteered as a board member for the local Advocacy program. I gave all this up in 1999 to make my family my first priority. Currently I am a Special Education Para-Educator for the Huron School district. This allows me to be home when my kids are home. I have to say that I love having the summer off! Anyway, I have 2 boys. As of now (2004) they are 16 and almost 14. They are the greatest however they are teenagers and yes we do have some headaches. It is hard to believe that they are almost grown up. Both tower over me and love it. My husband (Dennis Buckland) and I have been together over 20 years. g grandparents and other family close by. Lastly, we have a girl named Annie. My boys say that she is the daughter that I always wanted. Actually she is our 2 year old Golden Retriever. She is as spoiled as can be but we love her. In the future when the kids are grown and gone we would like to move from Huron and check out the rest of the world. Our options are open at this point. We both have experience in Human service but don't know what we want to do. I guess we will cross that bridge when we come to it. It would be great to hear from old classmates!
June 2009, We moved to Mitchell as Dennis got a new counseling job. The boys are still with us, working and saving money for college. They are both grown now and we don't see much of either of them between work and hanging out with their friends. I am working for the Mitchell Public Schools and also work at Coborns grocery store.
