Carol's Story

After graduating MLHS in 81, I went to a small Christian college in York, NE. There, I met and married Steve Dickerson and moved to Lincoln, NE for a while, then back to ML. We had Brent in 1987 and moved to the Wichita area. we had Breann in 1989. I became a very active-but stay at home mother. I taught a mom's day out group and children's bible classes, I was primary school lead room parent, a girl scout and boy scout leader and worked part time. Steve passed away in 1999 and my father died 10 days later. Life after that was quite different, I had an extremely hard time adjusting. I did a bit of traveling during that time, soul searching, I guess, hoping I could grasp a feeling that life would be ok. I re-married 4 years later in 2003, ...Expand for more
gained two older step sons who were on their own. The change in the household and my kids going through their teenage years was quite a challenge, but we made it fine. December of 2007 the last kid left home to venture on their own. I have not pursued further education like I have always wanted to. I have had various jobs along the way, but most of them delt with a clerical background. Currently I am probably in the job I have enjoyed the most, although its location is not my ideal. It is at a desk, in a cubical, in a room with no windows. I work for a tax software development company, acquiring forms, working on the graphics of the forms, and contacting taxing authorities. I wouldn't mind catching up with anyone from MLHS or York College.
