Carol's Story
Life
On Feb. 26, 1965 I married John (Jack) Dunn, a graduate of East High School. We have 3 children and 8 grandchildren and now 1 great granddaughter. Jack retired after 33 years as Loss Prevention Mgr./Security Mgr. with United Parcel Service. During that time we lived in Iowa, Nebraska and Ohio. I have worked part time using the clerical training I received at Tech. Most times I worked Mothers hours which allowed me to be home when my children were home. Our oldest son John is the Director of Water & Pollution Control for the city of Ames, Iowa. He and his wife Erika have 2 children. Our daughter Linda lives in Cincinnati and has 5 children. She works full time for Dolbey & Company here in Cincinnati. She is also now a Grandmother but is trying desperately to think of a new name for "Grandma". Our youngest son, Mike also lives in Cincinnati. He is married and has one son. He is an auto mechanic and his wife is an Assistant at the Brace Shop where they make and fit prothesis. Jack and I love to travel and now with retirement hope to be doing lots of traveling.
I would love to hear from lost friends and acquaintances. ALOHA
April 2018
This past year we added twin great
grandsons to our family.
2019 had its ups and downs. The last of March I had a brain bleed/stroke while we were visiting our son in Ames. We had traveled to Iowa for my brother-in-laws funeral. My family was told I would not make it out of the ICU. Then I spent time at Mercy Rehab in Clive, where they said I would never walk or talk again. Then I ...Expand for more
went to On With Life in Ankeny and proved everyone wrong. After 5 weeks I was walking, going up and down stairs, I was talking and singing. The only problem I have now is getting the fingers on my right hand to work. What all the doctors and physical therapist didn’t realize, I believe in the power of prayer and had people all over the world praying for me. Prayers DO work. During my time in the ICU I missed my brother-in-law’s funeral and the funeral of my son’s mother-in-law. In the middle of all this my husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. So we are dealing with that. I made the decision that we were moving to Ames to be close to our son. Our children/grandchildren were not happy but they can visit. In October we were in The Smoky Mountains and I fell, tore my rotator cuff and fractured my right arm. It’s never fun to spend vacation time in the ER.
We have witnessed 2 Christmas miracles in the last 2 weeks. 2 family members were very ill and families were gathered to say their goodbyes. They both are home and doing fantastic! Again, the power of prayer took over and the Lord performed miracles.
On a happier note, 2019 gave us another great grandson. Naturally he’s the cutest! That gives us 4 and we are so blessed. The Lord is good!!
Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year!!!! May 2020 be kind to Everyone!!!
