Carol's Story
Hi -
Carol A. Staub here. I am one of the 9 Staub kids who went to school, first at St. Bernadette's, then at St. John the Evangelist in Silver Spring. I graduated from Einstein HS in '71, went to Montgomery College for about a year. My father had a fatal heart attack in '69, which altered my life forever. I met the man who would become my son's father in 1969, and we had an up-and-down relationship for a few years (he dated my sister and my best friend for a while), before we finally established ourselves as a couple. Worked at People's Drugstore for a while, then at Dart Drug. Moved to Colorado in 1974, and have never looked back.
I started working at an auto dealership in 1974, at Burt Chevrolet, as a parts cashier, got moved into shipping and receiving, and from that point on I was stuck in the car business. I moved to Dale Buick in 1976, climbed the ranks from inventory control clerk to parts manaager by 1985. In 1982 I had my son, Adam Thomas Dean, whose father is Kirk Dean. m ever since. I stayed at Dale Buick (now Goodman Buick - Ron bought the store) until 1992, when new owners forced me out. Went back to Burt Chevy for 9 more years, and then moved into another management position at John Elway GMC West in Golden.
My daughter Amy was born in December of 1987, but her father and I didn't last. I stayed working at the Elway store for 6 years (by then it became Go GMC West), and moved to Ed Bozarth Chevrolet, where I am today. The dealership where I work now is where I will stay - the owner is a very savvy businessman who honestly cares about the people who work for him.
My son graduated from Colorado University in Boulder in 2000, and is currently working for Lockheed-Martin (now United Launch Alliance) as a systems engineer (he got his aeronautical engineering degree and put it to work). My daughter Amy is 21, has decided to become a hair stylist, and is living with her brother in a large home in Denver. I am an empty-nester (and loving it), with 3 dogs and lots of peace.
