Carole's Story
It sure is difficult to write about oneself. I don't think I've changed too much since high school...well, maybe learned to be a little more patient! Following graduation from SIUC, I worked as a respiratory therapist at Marion Memorial Hospital for a few years. For the last 23 years I have worked at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL, also as a respiratory therapist. I am very busy everyday...lots of trauma and drama. My husband & I belong to Western Oaks Baptist Church. I met my wonderful husband, John, also a respiratory therapist, here in Springfield. We have been married for 17 years. I thank God everyday for giving me a terrific, Christian husband. We love to be together and have so many common interests. We both are voracious readers and spend much time with our noses in books. essing and a terrific kid and hopefully will get a good-paying job and take care of me in my old age! I still play piano (at home only!) and still love music. I still adore Elton John! I love to get back to Cobden as much as possible. We always go to First Baptist with mom when we are in Cobden and enjoy seeing everyone there. My mom is still living on Wing Hill and doing well. My dad passed away in 1990 of lung cancer caused from years of cigarette smoking. In my spare time, I like to ride my bike, walk, and explore my genealogy. I discovered over the years that everyone in Union County is related and we all have the gene pools of fruit flies! Ha! My sense of style is still very much nonexistent, I still hardly ever wear makeup, and excitement is going out to lunch with my husband on Fridays.
