Caroline's Story
First I worked my way to Store Manager at Eckerd Drugs (now CVS). Then I decided I could not continue the retail life any longer and I really had a desire to help young people. I started at Miami Dade Community College working toward a Criminal Justice Degree so I could work in Juvenile Probation etc. After a class or two that was specifically focused on crime and psychology more than one professor suggested that I may make more of a difference in Education. Sadly, they told me that by the time the kids were in the system it was too late. They felt teachers could save kids by giving them an EDUCATION.
I received an A.A. from MDCC, and then went to Barry University to study Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education
(B.S.), Exceptional Student Education (M.S),and most recently ESE with concentration in Emotional Handicap (EH) and Gifted Education (Ed.Specialist).
Initially I worked at Lakeview Elementary in Miami Dade County. I am a home body in every sense as I stayed there for 14 ...Expand for more
years. Loved the school, the neighborhood and the kids. I moved to Broward county and traveled for two of my years in Miami but there was just so much 'car singing' a girl could do. As I was checking the opportunities in Broward one day (and following a discussion with the Principal stating that 'his' employees were not to speak when guests were in the building) the father that knows me better than no other presented me with a job opportunity at Plantation Park Elementary. I am now in my 6th year and my 4th position at PPE.
I am at the age that I DO recall the good old days and would love to hear from anyone from those times. Linda and Glenda...I owe you 'guys' a letter.

As of 2011-I am retired after 20 years of teaching due to disability. I moved to Carol's hometown ...Meadville,Pa.
