Carolyn's Story
Well since High School, I've attended and graduated from OIC of Ouachita with a Clerk-Typist Certificate and I received my A.S. Degree in Business from Yuba College, Clearlake, CA; my major was accounting. I'm presently the owner of Carol's Errand Service and the Pastor of The Early Church House Ministries.. Throughout the Clearlake community I have worked with youth and the developmentally disabled. I'm a past member of the Clearlake Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and a 4-year member of the Chamber of Commerce. Recently I was awarded the NAACP Award for Academic Achievement for my work with the Reach Out Program of Lake County. I'm married to Kenneth Engledow and I have 2 adult children, 3 stepsons, 8 grandchildren, and 2 step-great-grandchildren. Recently we moved from Clearlake, California which is adjacent to Napa Valley, CA and within a 2 1/2 hour drive to San Francisco and Sacramento. We're now living in Center Point, IA which is a 20 mile drive south of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Branded, a book by Carolyn Hendrix Engledow, a former resident of West Monroe and Monroe, Louisiana details the horrible sexual and physical abuse that she endured throughout her childhood and her deliverance through Christ from the wretched lifestyle that she lived as a result of the injuries she suffered. In her book she mentions her growing up years in Trenton Community of West Monroe, LA and Booker T. Washington Addition., the schools she attended, West Monroe Jr.H.S. West Monroe High School, Boley Elementary, and Carroll High School. In addition she mentions living in a environment which appeared to be safe because of the effectiveness of the West Monroe and Monroe Police Department, and the Ouachita Sheriff Dept. Claire Reeves--the author of Childhood It Should Not Hurt, and the recipient of various awards from Law Enforcement Agencies, Congressional leaders, and Arnold Swarzenegger and the State of California and the Mayor of Los Angeles--is the founder of M.A.S.A., Mothers Against Sexual Abuse. She is doing the review on the book,the promo, and the Forward. Her book is now used as a textbook at St. Joseph University in California and by law enforcement agencies throughout the U.S. Branded will also be promoted on the national M.A.S.A. website. Al Jarreau and his wife wrote the promo for her book and he was also the spokesman for M.A.S.A.
