Carolyn's Story
"Howdy" - as we used to say in the '80s... hope you are doing well and life has been good!
... after graduation, I went right into the working world, quickly finding my niche in graphic design. After starting a family at 29 years old, I stayed home for several years raising my kids (daughter Bailey, 13 & son Bennett, 8). I have learned so much about life and about myself after becoming a parent.
I've had a freelance design business called Hart&Soul Creative for several years now, which has taken a backseat to my new business, Oasis Outdoor Environments, LLC. I also worked full time (from home!) for about 2 years for a new publishing and marketing company in Duvall called Emerald Falcon Publishing. I designed and produced a weekly newspaper called the River Current News (kind of like the Arlington Times) before joining Tommy to form Oasis Outdoor.
Life doesn't always turn out the way you'd expected - but has a way of giving you exactly what you'd hoped & wished for. A few years after the demise of 1st marriage, I reconnected with my "childhood sweetheart" - now husband, Tommy Gutierrez. We were married on January 27, 2007. He is as smart, talented, sweet and funny as he is handsome. I'm so grateful for our life together.

e to have kids when I grew up. ...Maybe one or two children - a boy & a girl... As it turns out, I got that, and MORE. Tommy has four children - two boys and two girls... so we've got the 'Brady Bunch' thing going on. Together we have 6 great kids - a 17 year old son, Jordan; two 14 year olds, Bailey & Ryan; an 11 year old, Corryn; and two 9 year olds, Bennett & Alyssa. They are the center of our world, and our favorite people to hang out with. I could just go on and on about them!
We are busy with our business, Oasis Outdoor Environments, LLC. We started the company as a way to make the most of our combined talents & experience, to be able to spend more time together doing something we both enjoy - and of course, to maximize our income potential. Now in our second year, we are very thankful for the projects we've worked on, the great clients/friends we've made, and the partnerships we've formed with other local businesses.
One thing I'd like to find more time for is designing jewelry, which had become quite a passion of mine through the past 15 years or so. I had a little side business selling my jewelry for awhile - but haven't had time the past couple of years . . . I wonder why?
Drop me a note - I'd love to hear any news!
Happy trails...
