Carrie's Story
Life
After graduating from CWU, I moved to Southern CA (Irvine), where I lived for about 9 yrs. and obtained my C.P.A. license. I moved back to Washington in 1998 and bought a house in Canyon Park (Bothell). I am currently the U.S. Regional Controller for a Canadian-based refueling company. My office is in Lynnwood. I have two wonderful dogs, Casey and Cody. I'm very active and my interests include, but aren't limited to, hiking, cycling, camping, dancing and working out. I haven't married yet (maybe someday) but have a pretty full life.
College
I decided not to live on Central's campus. I knew I would be tempted to party more than study so I stayed in Seattle and worked while going to Central's sattelite program. I'm sure I missed out but I tell myself that at least I had money in my pocket when I graduated.
Even though I am out of school I still have to take courses for continuing education related to my license. So, I guess I will never be free of studying but I do really enjoy learning new things (although som...Expand for more
e of the sujects I have to study are real yawners).
Workplace
I am currently the U.S. Regional Controller for a Canadian-based refueling company. My office is in Lynnwood (no commuting (yeaaaah!). prior to that I was self employed for one year. Prior to self employment I, for 7 years, was the Controller for a Biotech company involved in gene synthesis, which was very interesting. Not having a scientific background I was pretty intrigued when I was introduced to a company that could manufacture and grow up genes. Prior to working in the biotech industry I spent about six years as Controller for two companies in the high-tech industry. Not as interesting as gene synthesis but challenging none-the-less. I had also worked for one of the large auto makers for a few years. That was interesting since I worked for the R&D side and was able to see the prototypes and test drive some of the cars.
I am always looking for new challenges and don't stand still for long. Who knows where or when the next opportunity will arise...
