Carrie's Story
My Life So Far
Well it's been an interesting trip so far. No one can say that my life's been conventional, but that's always been me....the dedicated non conformist. I never wanted the white picket fence suburban American dream thing, so I avoided it like the plague...haha. I've been married three times, and I'm now in a fairly new (7 months now) relationship with a truly great man who's an executive for a major insurance company, and he also happens to be a truly gifted bass player (jazz, r&b, funk). I have three kids, all girls and they are Ivy Marie who's 22 (she just got engaged to a really good guy, and they will be married this October), India Ann who's 20 (she's a very talented, budding artist who paints in the abstract medium, and has sold some of her work to interested collectors already), and Ilycia Catherine who's 18 (she just graduated this June, got a job, and her own place within a month of graduation). I'm extremely proud of all three of them. No grandkiddos yet, but I'm looking forward to them. All my girls graduated from high school (I was determined they wouldn't make the same mistake I did by dropping out..haha!). As far as where I've lived and traveled, I spent three years in Japan (83-86), came back to East Texas for three years (86-89), three years in El Paso (89-92), four years in (God help me) Kentucky (92-96), a year traveling all up and down the east coast (97), and I've been back here in God's country since 1998. I've lived in Greenville ever since. I've traveled ALOT... Japan, Mexico, Califor...Expand for more
nia, Alaska, Missouri, Wisconsin, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, Indiana, New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas, Washington...you name it I've probably been there! I've had several interesting jobs, including a year working for a traveling carnival, and a year working in a tattoo place (and yes I have some ink...seven in fact), a couple of years working as a registrar in the ER of Presbyterian Greenville, but now I'm a stay at home full time author. I mostly write poetry and short stories (a few have been published so I make a decent living at it...not rich but decent) and I'm currently working on my first full length novel (fiction) and should have it completed by Christmas. I'm also a hard core political activist for many patriotic causes, especially against the current administration whom I consider to be fascists. I love my country, I love our soldiers, but I don't think this war is being fought for any good reason. Ok...enough of that ...haha! And by the way gang, just in case y'all are wondering seeing as I dropped out my freshman year, I DID finally get my GED at the ripe old age of 30, scoring the highest score on the GED in the history of the state of Kentucky at the time (not exactly a hard thing to do hahahaha!). I subsequently scored a 28 on the ACT and took some college courses in creative writing and journalism (I wrote for a small underground political journal for a while). So I guess even a high school drop out can be successful if you want it bad enough. Well that's all for now folks. I will update as needed. Peace out.
