Carrie's Story
Life
After high school, I went off to college. When I graduated, I came back here to Rockford and started teaching. I was a Spanish teacher for a year, then I switched to teaching English as a Second Language. I then became an assistant principal in the district. I had the wonderful luck of meeting my husband through a former student of mine. We dated a few years, and got married in July of 2006. Our first child was born in May 2007, and has brought a wonderful new dimension to our lives! I went back to teaching after he was born, and I am thouroughly enjoying myself. I was teaching Spanish to middle school students, but made the switch back to high school and while I thought middle school was the great age group, high school is where my heart is!
College
I loved college! I first went to Illinois S...Expand for more
tate. I graduated in 1997 with a degree in education. After working a couple of years, I went back to school to get my Masters of Teaching. When I finished that in 2000, I immediately went to NIU to get a Masters in Educational Leadership. I am currently toying with the idea of returning to school.
Family
I never thought being a wife and mom would be so wonderful. In fact, I thought it would never happen at all! I met my husband through his baby sister, who was my student. She tried for over a year to have us get together and I wouldn't have it. She was my student, and I wanted to avoid any possible impropriety, though he was my age. But many years later, we reconnected, and she convinced me to finally meet him. There was a connection from the start! And our son has only added to that connection!
