Casey's Story
Life
After Nottingham High School I attended Norwich University, majoring in History and International Studies. I was commissioned in the Navy in May of 2001 and spent the next six months in school at Newport, Rhode Island. In November of 2001 I wound up on USS MAHAN as Electrical Officer, homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. I made a deployment to the Mediterranean and North Atlantic onboard that great ship. I was transferred to the USS BUNKER HILL in San Diego in January of 2004 to fill the role of Navigator. The ship deployed to the Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf, where I had the opportunty to assist in the Tsunami relief effort and take part in the Global War on Terrorism. While in Monterey I met Amanda, we got married on November 25th in San Francisco. She is great and puts up with all my oddities.
The last few years have been a whirlwind of travel and time at sea so I am really enjoying being here at school in Monterey. The pace is much more sedate and I have more time to relax and enjoy life.
I don't think I have changed much from High School and College, except maybe with a better understanding of how the world works. I really enjoy being with Amanda and in the Navy; I wake up every morning happy with my life.
I hope everybody I knew in High School and College is having a good time...one thing I have come to realize after being around the globe is that we live in a society with a lot more happiness than most others, please use it.
