Catherine's Story
Life
I am a mother of five children. I have four that are living and one that passed away in 1998. Joshua Alton Brooks passed away 2-14-1998. I have two wonderful boys and two awesome girls. My oldest Phillip, Alondra, Ka-bah and finally Karlena. I have had many adventures since high school. I have been married and divorced twice. I attended Ottumwa community college, college of dupage, chicago state and northwestern university. I currently reside in Chicago Heights, Illinois. I have fun and enjoy life all the time. My children keep me busy. I also have three god children that I gave birth to for my best friend. They are a handful too. I see them often and gain the perspective of giving birth of their children to enrich her life since she couldn't carry them. I have gone through several jobs retail, telecom, secretary, DCFS, and now a steel mill. I plan to go back to school next year and persue my love of teaching and computers but the illness of my youngest son has stopped that. My youngest son was diagnosed with the brain tumor jpa. as a shunt placement and a port. He continued to have chemotherapy for 50 weeks and two months after stopping that was found that his tumor started growing again. He had another attempt at removing the tumor on the 13th of August 2008. So far the operation looks good. My oldest son is involved in basketball and any other sports that he can get his hands on. My oldest daughter Alondra is quiet and reserved yet still likes skateboarding and art. My youngest son Ka-Bah is the one with the brain tumor and is very strong willed and stubborn. He enjoys living life and has given me a new prospective on it. He has got me to open up and try new things. My youngest daughter is a ham. She is great for cracking you up and making you laugh she enjoys about everything and gets mad if someone tells her she is to young for something and will do it just to prove them wrong. My greatest accomplishment is my house in a nice quiet community and an awesome park in the back. My children are hoping to build a skatepark but that idea is on hold for a while. All is well right now and that is the way that I like it.
